African Court to Deliver Judgement Today in Chanthunya claim

African Court on Human and Peoples' Rights (AfCHPR) in Arusha, Tanzania, is this morning poised to deliver a judgement on a complaint filed by Malawian applicant, Mr. Misozi Chanthunya, who was sentenced to life imprisonment in 2020 for murdering his Zimbabwean girl friend Linda Gasa.

Mr. Chanthunya, currently serving his jail term at Zomba Maximum Security Prison, lodged his claim at the African Court that the Malawi Government violated his rights to a fair trial.

Lawyers Neverson Chisiza and Francis MacJessie, from the Attorney General Chambers, are at the Court representing Malawi.

Ms. Gasa was murdered in 2010.
